How we actually made the move To Barbados

This is exactly how we did it

So you’re seriously thinking about it—Barbados or anywhere else in the world, sun, sea, new life… but how do you actually make it happen?

Let me break it down for you.

No fluff. Just exactly how we did it.

Step 1: Found the Barbados Welcome Stamp

It’s a 12-month remote work visa. Super straightforward. You apply online, and as long as you can prove you earn enough to support yourself (around $50k USD a year), you’re good to go.

👉 Apply here if you’re curious
(Don’t worry—you don’t have to commit yet.)

Step 2: Making money whist in Barbados

I shifted my work online. If you already work from home or run something digital, you’re halfway there. If not, this could be your excuse to finally make that shift.

Step 3: Schools & Education

We found a school for the kids (there are plenty of good options), and started looking for a rental. There’s something for every budget—from beachfront villas to more modest family homes inland.

Tip: join Facebook groups like “Expats in Barbados” or “Barbados Welcome Stamp Families”—they’re gold for local advice.

Step 4: Housing

Once we were approved and had a place lined up, we booked the flights. That was the moment it all felt real. Scary. Exciting. Everything in between.

Step 5: Flights / Just went for it

No amount of prep makes you 100% ready. But we knew if we didn’t try, we’d regret it forever. So we made the leap.

It wasn’t always smooth. But it was worth it.
Now we walk the beach in the morning. The kids play outside every day. And life feels… lighter.

Next time I’ll show you what a typical day looks like for us now. Spoiler: it’s a bit different than the old commute in the rain 😉

Catch you soon,
