Although I grew up surfing and had already learned long before we arrived in Barbados, teaching our three young kids to surf became a whole new adventure. It’s one thing to ride waves yourself—but it’s a whole different joy watching your children paddle out, stand up on their first wave, and fall in love with surfing right in front of your eyes.
Even though I could teach them myself, it’s still amazing to have all of these surf schools right here on the island. The instructors are knowledgeable, super friendly, and fantastic with kids (and adults alike!). Whether we wanted help progressing their skills, learning surf etiquette, or just having some fun in a new break, there was always a great local surf school ready to jump in.
